A jazz drummer as well as visual artist, Doug Turman was raised in Missoula, Montana and currently resides in Helena, Montana. He had the good fortune to have the likes of Lela Autio and George Gogas as high school art teachers and received a B.A. in art from Ohio’s Oberlin College and a master’s in printmaking from the University of Montana.
Sometimes working with obsessive precision and sometimes with extreme looseness and daring, Doug Turman is a master of his chosen medium. Whether working in oils or watercolor his detailed work references his travels abroad and his life in the West. His work has been shown on all seven continents.
