Haaken Ensign was born in the Flathead Valley of Montana where he still lives. He was self schooled in art. “I think the reason for painting is to put someone in a good, magical, or nobel place. To give evidence of the reality of these profound places and states of being and to recreate them in the viewers mind. A good painting will make the viewer see more and think of more than the painter conceived himself.”
